Infanticidal behaviour of a bottlenose dolphin in the Marmara Sea, Türkiye
The first ever recorded event of infanticidal behaviour in the Marmara Sea was recorded on the 10th of August, 2024. The incident is described as an adult of unknown sex (most likely male) assaulting a male calf for around 15 to 20 minutes. The damages to the neonate were spinal dislocation in the cervical region, eviscerated internal organs, skin tears, and lacerations among others.
